Founder Deidra Wesley started 1106 International Athletics Club after her first season as a masters athlete. She was so inspired by all the older athletes out there giving it their best on the track and in the field. 90-year-old high jumpers?! AWESOME!
Deidra also spotted a disappointing trend. She noticed that participation in the masters division was shockingly low. She saw small numbers of competitors overall at various events in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
She believed too many people were missing out on the excitement and the benefits of masters athletics, and she vowed to change that.
Deidra founded 1106 International Athletics Club to:
increase participation in the great sport of athletics
raise awareness of the masters division
highlight the importance of active aging

HOW WE GOT OUR NAME
The club is named 1106 in remembrance of our dear friend and former teammate Tiffanie Jordan. She was born on November 6 (11/06), 1982. She died on July 3, 2025.
She is survived by her twin daughters. The family have set up a Go Fund Me page to generate support for Tiffanie's girls. Learn more about her story and donate below.
